Pedagogy at the hospital

HAVING A REASON TO LIVE ENABLES US TO PUT UP WITH ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

All of us at some point in our lives are subject to adverse processes of stress, trauma, illness ... that cause us pain and suffering; but we can acquire enough strengths to recognize and transform it. In the educational and hospital environment, in order to provide comprehensive care to children and adolescents with a health problem that requires them to be hospitalized or be outpatients, actions that promote resilience are developed, such as the learning and exercise of the strengths to face the different aspects of daily life.

MERECE LA PENA is a proactive educational project to develop a preventive health activity. Resulting in a positive coping of the disease situation, and therefore a better quality of life. Those children who are in a situation of vulnerability due to the deterioration of their health have:

  • Educational attention to students hospitalized in the Hospital Education Classroom, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the teaching and learning process and avoiding the school delay that may arise from their situation.
  • The Home Educational Attention to students that must spend long periods of convalescence at home without the possibility to attend school. This is education in the student’s own home, when they cannot attend school. However, the education that is imparted can not be identified only with the mere transmission of knowledge; It goes much further.

Pedagogy in a hospital has relevance in health and life in general. It is a pedagogy for life, which takes advantage of any situation, painful as it may seem, to enrich those who suffer from it, changing their suffering into learning.
